Create a product that improves light in a sustainable smart home.
How we built a seasonal depression reducing light in 4 months:
Analyse current situation and find white-spots.
Found problem was seasonal depression disorder
Research the underlying factors and technology
Evaluate with competitors
User test first prototype
Create finished working and aesthetic prototype
The technology works behind 3 main components:
The parabola is used to direct the light rays to parallel light. This to mimic the sunlight which also has parallel light. It also makes the shadow appear in the same manner as from the sun
The light source is a LED with 5600 kelvin, the same light temperature as the sun. It also has the brightness of 1300 lumen to emulate the bright light from the sun and to be classified as a therapy lamp.
The filter contains a solution of soap and water. This creates the Tyndall effect and scatters the blue wave lengths of the light and the filter appears blue as the sky. As the light travels closer to the floor this effect also makes the light gradually warmer.
