A time capsule: Co-designing the green energy transition in Sweden

This project was not part of a course but a voluntary project to create an artifact that would be presented at the Venice Biennale 2023: Students as Researchers. The team consisted of 2 students from industrial design and 4 from the Architecture program. We wanted to showcase our latest projects and merged them together in this time capsule. The capsule contains 3 drawers that each hold an scale model from the architecture students houses and different sustainable building theories. At the top “Homestead” is displayed, a combined scale model of all the houses. The function of Homestead is to show the user how your energy is used. If you use inefficiently in your bedroom, the corresponding part in the Homestead will light you to indicate you that you are wasting energy. This timeless piece is intended to be placed some place central in your house so that you always can get an indication if you are not performing well.

Since the time capsule was sent to Italy for the Biennale a key theme for the brainstorming was that it needs to possible to disassemble and send the capsule, and then possible for them to rebuild it.
